Year 9 Certificate – minimum 80 points

Year 10 Certificate – minimum 80 points

Endorsement with Merit – requires 50 Merit Points

Endorsement with Excellence – requires 50 Excellence Points

Most full year subjects are worth 20 points and each half-year subject is worth 10 points

Year 9 Course

All Year 9 students at all levels and activities will have the opportunity at completing the Year 9 Marlborough Girls’ College Junior Certificate. Students must study across learning areas. These areas include full year study in English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Health and Physical Education. In addition to these courses students will study essential skills (thinking skills), a language, all the technologies and an arts subject. The courses will be half year courses. All courses at this level have clear statements linked to the values, principle and key competencies that are part of the new curriculum.

Your certificate can be endorsed at Merit or Excellence if you gain sufficient points.

BYOD Technical Specifications

Year 10 Course

All Year 10 students will be candidates for the Year 10 Marlborough Girls’ College Junior Certificate. All students will study English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Health and Physical Education. Students will then choose four half year options, two for each half year semester. A language (Te Reo, French) will count as two options as this option will be a full year course. Students not choosing a language choose four options from: Art, Drama, Food, Technology, Graphics, History, ICT, Music, Soft Materials and Viticulture. Some NCEA standards will be offered across the curriculum at this level.

Your certificate can be endorsed at Merit or Excellence if you gain sufficient points.

Non Endorsed Certificate = 80 points with less than 50 at merit/ excellence
Merit Certificate = 80 points with at least 50 points at Merit or better (eg 30 Merit and E0 excellence).
Excellence Certificate = 80 Points with at least 50 points at excellence
