Year 9 Course
All Year 9 students at all levels and activities will have the opportunity at completing the Year 9 Marlborough Girls’ College Junior Certificate. Students must study across learning areas. These areas include full year study in English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Physical Education and Health. In addition to these courses students will study essential skills (thinking skills), a language, all the technologies and an arts subject. The courses will be half year courses. All courses at this level have clear statements linked to the values, principle and key competencies that are part of the new curriculum.

Year 10 Course
All Year 10 students will be candidates for the Year 10 Marlborough Girls’ College Junior Certificate. All students will study English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Physical Education and Health. Students will then choose four half year options, two for each half year semester. A language (Te Reo, French) will count as two options as this option will be a full year course. Students not choosing a language choose four options from: Art, Drama, Food, Technology, Graphics, History, ICT, Music, Soft Materials and Viticulture. Some NCEA standards will be offered across the curriculum at this level.
Marlborough Girls’ College believes that all young women must work to their potential and pursue the subjects that will bring them success. However, if students are not achieving , they may be asked to repeat areas of learning or be directed by their dean to a more appropriate course.
