How to Fund Your Study

Have a look at www.studylink.govt.nz for information on student allowances, student loans and scholarships. There are hundreds of Scholarships available to help you with your Tertiary study! They are not just available to the top scholars so check them out!!

Breakout
MGC pays a subscription fee to the Breakout Website.Log on to any school computer then type www.breakout.org.nz into Internet Explorer. This facility is also available at the Blenheim town library.

Each university and polytechnic offer scholarships and grants so search their websites for their scholarships section. Watch out for closing dates as they could be as early as August of the year preceding your study!

Some of the scholarships available are:

Canterbury BRIGHT START Scholarships
The Canterbury Tertiary Education Millennial Trust was established in 2001 to offer scholarships to students from the Canterbury, West Coast, Nelson and Marlborough regions who have the ability to succeed in tertiary study but who experience financial or significant personal hardship.

First year fees paid for full-time study at CPIT, Lincoln University or University of Canterbury. Applicants must have lived in the South Island north of the Waitaki River for the last 12 months and be likely to experience financial hardship in tertiary study.

Waikato University Sir Edmund Hillary Scholarship Programme
Covers full fees for the duration of your study in any degree programme at Waikato University.

For students who excel academically, in sport, or in creative and performing arts and have leadership qualities. Applications close 31 October 2010.

Lincoln University Sports Scholarships
All tuition fees are paid for in a range of courses.
Programmes offered in cricket, golf, netball, football, hockey, rugby, elite.
Also for referees, umpires and administrators. Applications close 31 August 2010

Keystone Trust Student Scholarship
For students seeking tertiary education in a course directly associated with the Property Industry:

Architecture, quantity surveying, construction, engineering, property management, real estate, valuation, planning. Applications close 3 September 2010
