My time at Marlborough Girls' College

My Five Years at MGC

NaeunIn retrospect, all the years of studying in a foreign country was the right decision for me. I came to Marlborough Girls' College as a 12 year old and now am about to leave after five years in Blenheim. I think things are made easier for students like me to adjust to the school and the new environment.

There are many opportunities for both Kiwi and international students at Marlborough Girls' College. Teachers and students welcome new students and take care of them. I had the opportunity to join the choir, Jazz band, productions and many other school activities that were interesting and in some way shaped my future. The international department is well organised with many activities to help the students feel less homesick. Naeun

From Stockholm to Blenheimmaria

I came to Marlborough from Sweden as an exchange student at the beginning of the year.  During my time here, I have experienced many new things. I have gotten to know new people and have made many friends.

One of the things that I like most about Blenheim is the size of the city. Compared to my hometown Stockholm, which is Sweden's capital, it is close to everything. Even though I love the big city of Stockholm I really enjoy having both my friends and the town within walking distance.

Other things that are really appealing to me are the environment and the weather here in Marlborough. The green hills and the endless number of vineyards is something that I had never seen before I came here. The fact that it always seems to be sunny here is something that I am very astonished over.

I find the people here very friendly and welcoming. Shop assistants always make time for you and are very helpful. Walking along the riverbank and being met with a friendly "hello" from a passerby is something that I will miss when I go back to Sweden. Maria
