ERO Evaluation Report – A Message to Our Whānau

February 4, 2026

We are very proud to share the confirmed report following our most recent Education Review Office (ERO) evaluation.

This report recognises the excellent progress our school has made over the last eight years.

ERO affirms that our curriculum reflects who we are and where we are — grounded in our local context, our whenua, and our community. It highlights the strong relationships across our school, and the way learners are supported to develop agency, confidence and a sense of purpose in their learning. Importantly, the report recognises our strong school leadership, the strengthening of partnerships with whānau and mana whenua, reflecting our ongoing commitment to honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi through authentic relationships, shared responsibility and inclusive practice.

The evaluation also acknowledges our growing understanding of success. Alongside academic achievement, we intentionally value capabilities such as leadership, service, contribution and wellbeing — supporting our young women to thrive now and into the future.

ERO’s findings confirm that Marlborough Girls’ College is on a positive improvement pathway, with strong foundations in leadership, teaching, curriculum and learner wellbeing. We welcome ERO’s feedback as both affirmation and guidance in our mahi ahead. It supports our commitment to continuous improvement and to our shared aspiration: kia whakatipu i te mana, te māia me te angitū o ngā rangatahi katoa — to grow the confidence, capability and success of every young woman in our care.

ERO Evaluation Report

Ngā mihi nui to our students, staff, whānau, Board, mana whenua and wider community for the collective effort that continues to shape Marlborough Girls’ College as a place of belonging, learning and opportunity.
