OTA Scholarship Applications Open

July 24, 2024

In 2004 the OTA Scholarship was first offered to Year 9 students from Marlborough Girls’ College and Marlborough Boys’ College.

From then until 2020, every year each College selected two students (one each from Years 9 and 10) to travel to Jissen Gakuen Junior and Senior High School in Tokyo, Japan. A teacher was also selected to accompany the students, selected from each College in alternate years.

We are excited to launch the OTA Scholarship again in January 2025 with two students from each College travelling to Tokyo to attend Jissen Gakuen Junior and Senior High School. A teacher from Marlborough Girls’ College will be selected to accompany the students.

WHERE IS JISSEN GAKUEN JUNIOR AND SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL?

Jissen Gakuen is a co-educational school located in Tokyo, Nakano prefecture with over 1,000 students. You can find out more about them from their website:   https://www.jissengakuen h.ed.jp/

WHAT DOES THE SCHOLARSHIP COVER?

The OTA Scholarship will cover the cost of the students’ travel to and from Japan. While in Japan, students are given an allowance of NZ$100 to cover the cost of travel within Japan. If the student doesn’t already have travel insurance, the scholarship will also cover this cost.
