Our International Department provides a very warm welcome to International Students. Our International staff (including a dedicated International Dean, International Administrator and Homestay Coordinator) care about our international students and take very seriously the responsibility of helping them achieve the goals they have set for themselves.
We offer quality homestay experiences where our international students are placed with caring families who consider our students part of their family, including them in family activities and trips. Many of our students develop life long friendships with both students and host families.
On arrival, our new international students are introduced to their New Zealand ‘buddy’, who will help them get to know students and the school. One of our International Student Leaders also has a special responsibility to support each new arrival.
International students are encouraged to mix with New Zealand students so they can make New Zealand friends. We encourage our international students to make the most of the opportunities that we have to offer – the arts, drama, leadership, music, and sport.
Our ESL programme offers elementary to advanced English with qualified teachers who take the time to know their students and their needs. Classes are small to ensure that all students achieve English proficiency
We have a happy, friendly, student-based atmosphere. Marlborough Girls’ College is a safe school. Violence, racism and dishonesty are not tolerated. The uniform worn by all students means everybody is treated equally.
With a school roll of approximately 1000 students, we have the teachers and resources to offer a broad curriculum offering a wide range of subjects.
